Scholars on Wheels

Shred, grind, jump, bounce; UBC opened the first on-campus skateboard park in North America. Made of concrete and galvanized steel, the UBC Skatepark has a range of banks and challenges from beginner to expert. Key features: open snake-run bowl, cantilevered quarter-pipe, stair set (complete with ledge and handrail), an angled slappy bank highlighted with a ‘stack’ of large concrete-and-steel ‘books’ for enthused skateboarders, BMX riders, rollerbladers and others. The park also features an engraved quote from artist Vincent Van Gogh: “One must work and dare if one really wants to live.”
