Ted Talks on campus
The acclaimed TED Talks were held in the downtown Vancouver Convention Centre from March 17-21. In a first, the series of presentations by some of world’s best and most influential minds were live streamed from the main venue and into UBC and other selected and accredited secondary sites within Metro Vancouver. The digital screens in the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre attracted packed audiences. The speakers roster included: Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield; music producer Mark Ronson; inventor Tim Berners-Lee; architect Moshe Safdie, philanthropists Bill and Melinda Gates; leadership expert Simon Sinek; Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales; Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert; musician Imogen Heap and others.
