An Appreciation, an Audience

Graduation is a day never to be forgotten and for newly minted PhD, valedictorian and now Dr. Olga Pena, it was especially memorable. For the first time in ‘recent memory’, attendees at the convocation were addressed by a graduate student – Olga Pena – and for good reason(s). While completing her grad studies at the Centre for Microbial Diseases and Immunity Research at UBC, focusing on the immunopathology of sepsis, Pena received numerous awards and scholarships, including two major graduate student awards, a Killam Doctoral Fellowship and a Vanier Scholarship.
